Eyes on the Invisible

For we live by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Fear often whispers louder than faith. It tells us to play it safe, to shrink back, and to avoid risk. But as followers of Christ, we are called to walk by faith, not by sight. Faith doesn’t ignore fear; it moves forward despite it, trusting that God is greater than anything we face.

Faith begins where our understanding ends. Fear thrives in the unknown, but faith trusts the One who knows it all. When we walk by faith, we acknowledge that God’s perspective is higher and wider than ours. We may not have all the answers, but we trust the One who does.

Fear can paralyze, but faith empowers. Fear tells us to stay in the boat, but faith invites us to step onto the water. When Peter walked toward Jesus on the waves, he experienced what it meant to trust beyond logic. Faith calls us to action, even when the circumstances seem impossible.

Faith isn’t blind; it’s focused on God. Living by faith doesn’t mean ignoring reality. It means fixing our eyes on the Author and Perfecter of our faith rather than on the storm around us. The more we focus on Jesus, the smaller our fears become.

“Fear is faith in the wrong thing.” Christine Caine, a Christian speaker and author, reminds us that fear grows when we place our trust in our circumstances rather than in God. To overcome fear, we must shift our faith back to the One who holds all things in His hands.

Faith fuels courage in the face of fear. Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s choosing to trust God despite it. When Joshua was called to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, God repeatedly said, “Be strong and courageous.” That strength came from faith in God’s promise and presence.

Faith draws its strength from God’s Word. Fear is fed by doubt, but faith is strengthened through Scripture. When we remind ourselves of God’s promises, we anchor our trust in His faithfulness. His Word becomes a lamp to our feet, guiding us even in the darkest times.

Fear diminishes as faith grows. The more we trust God, the less control fear has over us. This doesn’t mean we will never feel afraid, but it means fear won’t dictate our choices. Faith reclaims the power fear tries to steal.

Faith sees what fear cannot. Fear focuses on what could go wrong, but faith sees what God is doing. It sees beyond the struggle to the victory that God has already secured. Living by faith means choosing to believe in His plans, even when the outcome is unclear.

God strengthens us to live by faith. We don’t have to muster faith on our own. The Holy Spirit empowers us to trust God in every situation. As we lean into Him, our faith grows, enabling us to walk confidently in His promises.

Godseekers, faith invites us to step out of fear’s shadow and into God’s light. Trust in His goodness, power, and promises today. Let faith guide your steps, even when the path ahead seems uncertain. Fear may try to hold you back, but faith will lead you forward into the life God has prepared for you.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for calling us to live by faith and not by sight. Forgive us for the times we let fear control our choices. Help us to trust You more deeply and to focus on Your power instead of our circumstances. Strengthen our faith so we can walk confidently in Your promises, no matter what we face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
